MTV announces casting for 16 & Pregnant Season 5

MTV announces it is casting for 16 & Pregnant Season 5

They’re baaaaaack! 16 & Pregnant season 5 is coming soon at some point! More than a year after the fourth season wrapped, MTV has just announced it is casting for the show’s fifth season. The network’s official website released the statement just last week, and already fans (and detractors) are buzzing!

So much time had passed since 16 & Pregnant Season 4, and because MTV had made no announcements of plans to bring it back, many assumed that perhaps the franchise had run its course and was over for good. Then, MTV announced they were filming a 16 & Pregnant catch-up special with still no mention of a Season 5, seemingly further suggesting there may be no more new episodes. But then MTV announced last week they are casting again!

MTV is currently in the process of selecting a new group of pregnant teens which fans will eventually get to follow as they make their way into parenthood. From there, we may even be getting another franchise of Teen Mom — but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Here is MTV‘s full casting announcement:

MTV is casting for the thought-provoking documentary series “16 and Pregnant.” This series follows the journeys of young women as they face unexpected pregnancies and navigate the difficulties of becoming parents at a young age.

Our goal is to give viewers a look inside the realities of teen pregnancy — from morning sickness and balancing school responsibilities to navigating incredibly difficult decisions and relationships with boyfriends and/or parents, ultimately to the day of the baby’s arrival and beyond. MTV is looking for young women from varying backgrounds who are facing an unplanned pregnancy and would like to share their personal story about this life-changing and complicated journey.

If you would like to share your story in order to raise awareness about this issue, please contact us as soon as possible. Include the city and state you live in, your contact details, a picture and the reason why you’d like to share your story as part of “16 and Pregnant.” Email us at: 16andPregnantcasting@mtv.com

MTV has not given a premiere date or estimate on when the fifth season will air. Given their usual production timeline I’m guessing we might see the first episode in 2015 or so. (Just kidding!)

So what do you think? Are you excited about meeting a new cast of young women struggling with pregnancy at an early age, or do you think it was time for MTV to retire the franchise?
