We reported back in July that MTV was casting for the fifth season of 16 and Pregnant and we’re now getting confirmation on some of the girls currently being filmed. The first to be revealed is 17-year-old Karley Deatherage Shipley from Tooele, Utah.
Karley’s episode should be quite interesting because she brings some rather unique attributes to the table, including the fact that she is already married, expecting twins, and looks to be from a Mormon family!
According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, MTV cameras arrived in Karley’s hometown last week to begin filming and have already captured Karley’s baby shower. (Click the link to see a photo of the actual MTV crew filming!) Karley married the father of her twins, Tony Shipley, this spring and Karley Deatherage is now technically Karley Shipley according to her online baby registry.
And speaking of her online baby registry, it lists November 30, 2013 as the babies’ due date, but apparently it’s not actually until the middle of December. I assume the discrepancy is due to the fact that twins often come early.
Here’s a selfie of Tony shared by Karley back in January, who described him at the time as “my super cute boyfriend whom I love more than anything.”
Karley’s sister was asked in an online forum, “Are you LDS?” (which I assume is Latter-Day Saints) and she responded with a simple “yes.” Since Karley’s sister is a year younger, I can’t imagine that she would be LDS if her family wasn’t.
Karley’s sister also confirmed that Karley is expecting two girls and that she and Tony plan on naming them Amaya and Amariah. It’s unclear if the double-A twin daughter names were inspired by Teen Mom 2 star Leah Calvert and her twins Aleeah and Aliannah, but Karley does appear to be a fan of the show because she posted this next photo of Kailyn and Isaac on Teen Mom 2 online back in December of 2012 along with the caption, “lol this is my night, teen mom”
Karley’s online presence has been scrubbed (her Facebook page, etc. have been deleted), but I was able to find one of her social media profiles still active, and this is how she described herself on it:
i don’t hate anyone, i’m easy to get along with. my life really never contains drama, for the simple reason that i don’t care enough to get involved. i’ll go along with mostly anything and be happy while doing it, even if i don’t like it. i love laughing and it happens often, i always have fun, whether i be doing something exciting or very uneventful; easily entertained, for sure. don’t be a stranger, i’ll be polite.
