Nat Geo greenlights show about the demolition business “Bid and Destroy”
National Geographic looks to demolish the ratings with the announcement that they have given a greenlight for the show “Bid and Destroy.”
From the official press release:
Bid & Destroy gives viewers an unprecedented look into the cutthroat, rough and demanding world of demolition, by following the crew of New Hampshire’s “Danley Demo” as they bid to take on jobs throughout New England. Every day is a huge gamble as the company “blind bids” on residential and commercial jobs; whether they make or lose money depends on the treasures they find inside the structures.
I did a little following up and thought I’d provide you with some background information on Mr. Lee Danley and the crew of Danley Demo, the New Hampshire based company to be featured on the show. First off lets get some bidness credentials courtesy of the company’s official website:
In 1993 Lee M. Danley and his wife, Rita, started Danley Demolition Inc. They had established good careers on their own, however, they knew that the time was right to go out into business for themselves. Lee already made lasting relations in his previous position as General Manager of a major construction and wrecking firm. He also knew that his 30 years experience as a builder would help him in the understanding of precise demolition. This knowledge of construction and demolition could thrust him into the success that has become Danley Demolition Inc.
Danley Demolition Inc. found out early that a woman-owned, family-operated business could do more for a customer than other wrecking companies with large overhead. But, when they need the assistance of additional manpower, how do they decide who they need? Very simple! They have those that get the job done fast, efficiently and absolutely right, at their fingertips!
Woman-owned. I guess that makes Rita the boss at work and at home! Anyways, here’s a clip of Lee Danley on a show called American Builder as he explains a little bit about what they do and wins a bet while he’s at it:
I love Lee’s accent and his matter-of-fact way of talking. I guess you learn to get past all the blah blah if you’re in the demolition business. Here’s one more video, this one’s just a straight up promo with Lee asking at the end after footage of some of his team’s destruction in action, “Any questions?”
I’m guessing or I’m sure hoping that we’re going to meet the seriously bearded operator of that Komatsu and the kick-butt lookin’ gal who was driving the dump truck. I don’t know their names yet but here’s a cap of both em anyways because I don’t want to get on their bad side if they read this!
The company, or should I say Rita, recently launched a Facebook page. They don’t have much up yet but they’re already hoping for some of that ratings gold as they posted that they hope that they get as big as their producer’s mega-hit Pawn Stars. They did upload that first great pic of the crew and two things came to mind… I’d love to sit down and have a few beers with ’em and I reckon laundry is a hefty company expense!
If you know any more about the crew let us know in the comments section below. Who knows what we’ve got here, but I can say it’s already one of my favorite show names in reality TV.
