From her days as a Nickelodeon teen star to an adult comedic actress, Melissa Joan Hart maintained a good reputation. She’s now revealing that’s just because she got lucky with what was and wasn’t reported…

“I experimented with weed, Ecstasy, mushrooms and mescaline for about a year and a half,” the former star of Sabrina the Teenage Witch told Life & Style.

Now a 37-year-old mother, Melissa shared an anecdote about one of her crazier experiences: Taking Ecstasy at the Playboy Mansion in 1999, the same year she starred in Drive Me Crazy.

“That was my third or fourth time on Ecstasy,” said, explaining it led to her making out with another girl while on a limo ride to a Maxim photo shoot.

Although Melissa dabbled in drugs, she never felt addicted. She even claimed to turn down Paris Hilton’s offer to take a hit of cocaine. (Paris’ reps denied the claim to Life & Style.)

“I was kind of running with a bad crowd,” she said. “I just didn’t enjoy taking drugs. I don’t like the loss of control.”

What she did enjoy was her fair share of flings with Hollywood hotties, including “man-whore” Jerry O’Connell and Backstreet Boy Nick Carter.

In spite of it all, Melissa was able to fly beneath the radar — which she previously attributed to differences in technology.

“If it was 1999 right now, with all the media and the Internet and everything else, I would be in a lot of trouble … I wasn’t the most well behaved 20-year-old. You know, I was like a little out of control, and enjoying money and fame and you know parties and just at that age ? But I always went to work. I always made sure that on a school night I was in bed and I was sober because I had 150 people waiting for me on a set every day and I needed to know my lines, I needed to know my blocking, I needed to have the energy to get through my day. I made sure I was a professional first, my job was important to me and so is my health … I feel like though if you had caught me at certain moments, you would have thought I was Lindsay Lohan.”
