Meet Mimi: the homeless laundry attendant Zach Galifianakis and Renee Zellweger have adopted
This is Mimi, a vivacious 80-something-year-old woman who works at the Fox Coin Laundry in Santa Monica and didn’t have a place to live a few years ago. According to a Star Magazine report from February two years ago Zach Galifianakis, who frequented the laundry and lives in the neighborhood, befriended her and was distraught to find out she was homeless.
Star‘s source said he rented her an apartment in the area, and when fellow neighbor and Fox Coin patron Renee Zellweger found out about Mimi’s situation, she helped furnish the apartment, and helps Mimi buy groceries. Both Renee and Zach have kept up their support for Mimi for two years, and there’s been no word of it in the press except for this anonymous tip.
It’s really heartwarming to hear about celebrities who genuinely help someone in need.
