Martha Stewart is looking for dates on Match.com: here’s her profile

Martha Stewart may have some sort of promotional deal going with Match.com, but she’s genuinely using the online dating service to find a man! Her genuine interest in online dating took Matt Lauer aback on The Today Show, but she’s serious.

The 71-year-old mogul spoke with Match.com’s chief executive Sam Yagan about her chances of finding love using the site after seeing many of her employees see success. “What we know we can get you is some great first dates. I think finding a soul mate for you might be a little bit difficult, but I think first dates are easily doable,” Yagan replied.

Stewart replied that she didn’t like the word “soul mate” anyway. She later explained more what she was looking for: “I’d like to have breakfast with somebody. I’d like to go to bed with somebody. Sleep with somebody.”

Martha Stewart’s nephew-in-law Dan Slater, who recently wrote the book Love in the Time of ALgorithms: What Technology Does to Meeting and Mating, isn’t surprised by his aunt’s fascination with online love. “The first time I met Martha, we spent most of the evening talking about her past suitors,” he noted. It was Dan, who married her niece, who inspired Martha to undertake this “adventure.”

Martha didn’t use her real name and photograph when she set up her profile, although she wanted to. Yagan advised her to leave off identifying details “Only because I think it would be distracting to those initial conversations you have where everyone is going to be about talking to Martha, as opposed to really getting to know the person first.”

Martha retorted with “Oh, then I might get some crazies?” Yagan was quick to reply “You’re not gonna get crazies, that’s not really the issue.”
