Blake Lively responds to Martha Stewart’s comment about her website idea being ‘stupid’
Blake Lively recently launched Preserve, a lifestyle website that’s essentially the slightly less hoighty-toighty cousin of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop. Shortly before its July launch, Blake spoke to Vogue about the natural connection between what she’s trying to do and what Original Domestic Diva Martha Stewart already accomplished.
“She’s one of those people who connect people with each other. She’s there for you,” said Blake.
However, when speaking to Huffington Post Live, Martha seemed less-than-supportive of Blake’s website.
“Let her try,” Martha said. She said she didn’t mean it factiously, but added, “I mean, it’s stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress?”
Martha clarified that she admires Blake’s acting, which is something she could never do. Still, reading that Martha Stewart thinks Preserve “is stupid,” likely stung Blake a bit… But kudos to her for responding quite well to it all.
“I want to have my own path professionally and even as she said, I’m an actress,” Blake told E! News on Wednesday. “I’m doing something totally different so now I sort of have two careers going on and it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out. But really what it is, is I have two passions. And I think ultimately, I will always be doing both, but one is going to be paying the bills better than the other.”
I think that’s about as good of a response as you could expect! Plus, it sounds like all is well between the ladies, considering Blake again referred to Martha as “a huge inspiration to me my entire life.”
