Norma Jeane Dougherty is rolling over in her grave as it’s officially been announced that Lindsay Lohan’s much ballyhootered nude Playboy pictorial will be a recreation of Marilyn Monroe’s first Playboy shoot.
Until this news popped up I was kind of looking forward to the issue, because, well, it would be full of nekkid pictures of women but now that I’ve discovered they’ve went there I’m not in. Not only was it the iconic first spread for Playboy of Marilyn Monroe but it was the very first featured spread in the men’s magazine’s history. We are dealing with pop culture history here and they should have just left that alone.
Maybe they were desperate for motivation after Lindsay’s first try at posing for the Hef didn’t go so well? Or maybe they thought they would be pressed for time after her 4 1/2 hours behind bars?
Hugh Hefner said:
“It’s a classic tribute inspired by the original Tom Kelly nude pictorial of Marilyn Monroe, a portion of which was the original playmate which was in the original issue of Playboy.”
In addition to the fact that this is hallowed history, Lindsay has already done a Marilyn Monroe recreation spread previously for New York Magazine. This idea isn’t even original for woodness sake! The top image is an outtake from that (un)original spread. You can see the rest here.
I think it’s time to revisit one of our old Harsh Ness Monster cartoons!
Lindsay’s goods will appear in the January/February 2012 issue of Playboy, scheduled to come out in late December. The 25-year-old troubled starlet will also be interviewed in depth so we can have all those important words to go along with LiLo’s naughty bits.
This isn’t the first time Lindsay’s channeled Marilyn in a photo-shoot. In 2008 Lindsay recreated Marilyn’s “last sitting” photos for New York Magazine with the same photographer who shot Marilyn, Bert Stern.
