Limited edition of Scarface on Blu-ray to sell for $999.99, comes in custom humidor

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that Scarface will be released on Blu-ray for the first time on September 6, 2011. Brian De Palma’s genre-defining gangster film masterpiece starring Al Pacino as Miami crime lord Tony Montana has been “newly restored” and will come in two special limited edition packages.

The steelbook packaging will include ten exclusive art cards, a digital copy of the film and a DVD of the original 1932 Scarface. It carries a suggested retail price of $34.99.

BUT, for those REAL Scarface enthusiasts Universal is offering a Scarface-themed humidor edition with a suggested retail price of $999.99! From the Universal press release:

At the time of this post the steelbook edition was available for preorder from Amazon for $24.49 and the humidor edition can be pre-ordered for $699.99. (How often do you get to save $300 on a DVD purchase?!?)

Though I couldn’t find an image of the US humidor edition I did find the UK humidor edition, which looks a bit scaled-down by comparison and comes with a much more reasonable price tag of £44.99:
