Is Alton Brown bringing back Good Eats?
Is Alton Brown bringing back Good Eats? Brown and Food Network sent the star’s career-making show off with a chocolate-themed Valentine’s Day extravaganza in 2014–but reruns of the show are wildly popular over on sister network Cooking Channel. And, recently, Alton Brown opened up about the possibility of a Good Eats revival, which has a better chance of happening than you might think.
Brown sat for an interview with Eater.com regarding his upcoming (and already hugely popular) “Eat Your Science” tour. The 40-city colossus will stride across the land next spring, and is a follow-up to the also-popular and also-colossal “Edible Inevitable” tour, which Brown documented extensively via his Facebook page.
The Eater interview is a good bit of fun regarding the new tour, and offers a generous dollop of information about what fans can expect to see from Alton Brown in 2016. However, the interview closes with the one question Brown fans seem to ask more than any other: Is Alton Brown going to bring Good Eats back anytime soon?
The full question: “We saw your tweet announcing that you’d packed up all of the episodes of Good Eats and were sending them off to storage. We have to ask: Would you ever consider bringing Good Eats back?”
And Brown’s response? “Good Eats…no. No. Something like Good Eats only for digital delivery? Definitely maybe. Definitely…Maybe.”
Of course, if Brown did have something up his sleeve regarding a Good Eats special, he would be his coy self about it. Elsewhere in the interview, for example, he’s asked if it’s difficult for him to obtain permits to include fire in his stage show. “What fire?” responds Brown. “I didn’t say anything about fire. Never heard of the stuff. Lies!”
Alton Brown’s quest to help free America from its “pornification” of food begins next April.
