Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova admits to using Photoshop, says she’s flattered by critics
Sorry to break it to you, but Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova didn’t come out of the Mattel package looking exactly like she does in the top picture.
“The pictures are photoshopped to achieve smoothness and color correction,” she told Cosmopolitan last week, which is notable change because she’s previously denied using photo editing tools. “They were not high quality. I had to edit them in order to correct the defects of the phone picture.”
However, beside correcting the color and smoothing out the pictures, Valeria is as adamant as ever that the rest of her is real — and anyone who says different is just jealous.
“It is a pity that most people choose instead the path of degradation,” she said on Facebook after getting criticism for the new pictures. “I am certainly still far from ideal, very far… But I strive for athleticism… So funny that girls and boys from sporting groups write such nasty things about my body… So much negativity.”
She further explained to Cosmo that her critics are “clearly” just jealous because they “don’t have the same figure as I do.” She added, “People who are satisfied with themselves don’t comment on who they don’t like. They will pass by. And those who write nasty [things], they are openly jealous. To have an ideal body is important to every self-respecting girl.”
Fortunately for Valeria, she’s found ways to benefit from the criticism. (Even though she said she doesn’t read the mean comments.)
“Beautiful people are often envied,” she said. “That’s why negativity does not surprise me. Instead, it touches me.”
