‘He could not go on any longer’: Avicii’s family’s touching statement hints that he may have taken his own life
A just-released heartfelt statement from the family of Tim Bergling, known by the electronic music stage name Avicii, hints that the cause of his untimely death at 28-years-old may have suicide. Previous reports speculated that Avicii’s struggles with alcohol abuse and/or health issues like pancreatitis may have been the cause of his death.
“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions,” the statement reads. “An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most — music.”
“[Avicii] really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive.”
This statement was very thoughtfully worded in order to truly express who Tim was, what he struggled with, and what he found joy in. It feels like a very honest and fitting tribute to a sensitive and talented person who touched countless lives.
