What happened to the ‘JK Wedding Entrance Dance’ couple? Are they still together?

JK Wedding

Remember the “JK Wedding Entrance Dance” video? You know, the one where the wedding party dances their way down the aisle to Chris Brown’s “Forever?”

The “JK” stands for Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz. The bride and groom originally intended to make the video to share with family who weren’t able to make it to the wedding. Clearly, the couple could have never anticipated the impact it would have.

To say the video went viral would be an understatement. The “JK Wedding Entrance Dance” video has nearly 88 million views and made Time’s list of 50 best YouTube videos of all time.

After the video exploded, Jill and Kevin made their way around the national news circuits, sparked a new trend of ‘surprise wedding dances’, and were even parodied on The Office.

Things got a bit sticky though when not long after the video was released, Chris Brown was arrested for domestic violence against then girlfriend Rihanna. Instead of backing away from the negativity surrounding the situation, the couple decided to take a proactive approach.

“We were a little uncomfortable with some of the attention Chris was getting.” Kevin told Today back in 2010. “We decided to try to direct some of that attention toward an organization that helps women with domestic violence, The Sheila Wellstone Institute.”

So, where is the couple today?

jkweddingdance-jill_kevinI’m glad to report the couple is still happily together!

Since they got married back in 2009, Jill earned a Ph.D. in psychology and works as a college professor of criminal justice (JillianKaulPeterson.com). Kevin became an attorney and has his own lawn firm that specializes in immigration law (KevinHeinzLaw.com). Dang!

Jill and Kevin call St. Paul, Minnesota home. Not only is that the location of their famous wedding video, it’s also close to their family and friends.

In addition to being a professor and lawyer, they are also mommy and daddy to two sons.

And what about that foundation? To date, Jill and Kevin helped raise over $50,000 for the Sheila Wellstone Foundation!

When questioned about the success of the video, Jill attributes it to people’s love of happiness, “I think people are attracted to positivity and joy and happiness and it seems to put people in a good mood. We think it’s great.”

In addition to their professional websites, Jill and Kevin have a website dedicated to their wedding video you can check out by clicking here.
