According to an official press release from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, George Everette Clinton, Jr. was found dead in his Halstead Boulevard apartment in Tallahassee, Florida February 1, 2010. Clinton is the son of Parliament and Funkadelic mastermind George Clinton, who was in attendance at the 52nd GRAMMY Awards the night before in Los Angeles. Clinton Sr. owned a recording studio in Tallahassee where Clinton Jr. worked.

WCTV in Tallahassee reports that officers were notified by telephone that there was a body at Plantations at Pine Lake. From WCTV:

The resident hadn’t been seen in a few days, so management ordered maintenance to do a welfare check.

The man’s body was found lying on the living room floor and Leon County Sheriff’s Officers says they do believe that it is the body of George Clinton, Junior.

Right now, foul play is not suspected.

George E. Clinton, Jr. was 50 years old and is survived by daughter Shonda Clinton, a musician who performs under the name Sativa.
