Detroit police commander mass emailed specifics of female officers’ bra sizes

Police Officers Bra Sizes
A Detroit assistant police commander was busted for sharing female cops’ bust sizes in an email to every member of Detroit Police Department.

The controversial mass email was distributed as part of an innocent mistake, but it’s still landed the commander in hot water — especially among the affected women. Two of the women have filed an official grievance against the department.

“It’s an unfortunate event,” Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, told Detroit News. “I feel bad for these officers. A lot of people are self-conscious about those things.”

The personal information was originally collected so female officers could be fitted with custom bullet-proof vests. In addition to their cup sizes, the police department also noted the officers’ heights and weights. Male officers’ height and weight information was also distributed. For obvious reasons, that wasn’t considered as sensitive as the cup sizes.

“Your height, weight, bra size — what woman wants all that out there? Let alone a female police officer working in a man’s job, surrounded by men,” said officer Jennifer Kaminski, whose information wasn’t released. “We have a good amount of women on the force, but you’re surrounded by men at all times. That’s private information; I can’t imagine my fellow officers knowing that about me.”

Fellow officer Carol Furstenau, who also wasn’t affected, said she wouldn’t care as long as the vests end up fitting.

“It doesn’t matter to me… People can see how big your boobs are anyway,” she said. “You can stand there and see if a woman is a 36 EEE. But I can see where some people might be sensitive to that kind of thing.”

The two women who filed the grievance were reportedly teased about the information.
