George Zimmerman’s wife Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce on Thursday, less than two months after her husband was acquitted of second-degree murder charges by a jury for the shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin. “I think I’m realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don’t think that I ever really knew him at all,” Shellie Zimmerman said in an interview with Good Morning America shortly after filing for divorce. “I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George,” she added. Authorities release anti-violence PSA in anticipation of Zimmerman verdict

The polarizing case of George Zimmerman and the shooting death of Trayvon Martin is now in the hands of the 6-member all-female jury. In anticipation of a heated response regardless of which way the verdict gets handed down, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office has released a PSA encouraging people to “Raise Your Voice, Not Your Hands!”

Special prosecutor Angela Corey announced in a press conference this evening that Zimmerman was being charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on February 26 in Sanford, Florida.

REPORT George Zimmerman to be charged in Trayvon Martin shooting later today

Earlier today, the special prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin shooting case announced a press conference for 6pm EST. CNN is now reporting that she will be announcing that charges will be filed against George Zimmerman, the Neighborhood Watchman who shot Trayvon on February 26, claiming the shooting was in self defense.

UPDATE – George Zimmerman has been charged with 2nd degree murder and is currently in custody after turning himself into authorities.

George Zimmerman launches website seeking donations, lawyers withdraw from case

In what has become one of the most polarizing and publicized cases in recent memory, the shooting of Trayvon Martin at the hands of George Zimmerman has already had a seemingly endless amount of twists and turns. There’s been outrage and protests at what many view as vigilante justice and racial profiling, then there was a backlash against all the condemnation of Zimmerman including a disturbingly brutal screw up by NBC in which audio was edited in a way that fueled accusations that Zimmerman’s motives were at least in part racially motivated.
