Can Todd Chrisley sing and write music? The powers that be must think so, because the Chrisley Knows Best patriarch recently signed a sweet deal with a major music publisher. For starters, Chrisley will work with a couple of Nashville heavyweights–and the whole process is being documented for the fourth season of CNB, the premiere for which is right around the corner.
According to a Daily Mail report, Todd Chrisley’s deal is with industry powerhouse BMI, whose clients include Demi Lovato, Lil Wayne, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Eminem, and Rihanna, among many others. Chrisley, 46, plans to become a singer-songwriter in the country vein. This came as no surprise to fans of Chrisley Knows Best, who were quick to point out the numerous uses of pop-country throughout the show’s run.
Nor was Chrisley’s initial pairing: Todd will first work on a song with famed country star Sara Evans (the pair is pictured on the left above) and noted songwriter Shane Stevens. Stevens is probably best-known for writing Lady Antebellum’s #1 song “American Honey,” and Selena Gomez’ recent hit “Nobody.” (He’s also written and co-written several songs for Evans.)
Chrisley fans have been buzzing about the news, but it doesn’t answer the underlying question: Can Todd Chrisley sing? There isn’t too much evidence for or against the notion, but this Chrisley Knows Best clip from Season 2 might be helpful:
