Bobby Flay, Stephanie March finalize nasty divorce
Bobby Flay and Stephanie March are officially divorced. The couple announced their intention to split months ago, and things have been tense and often downright contentious since. For the time being at least, the two are putting on an amicable public face: their official statement, which reps for both March and Bobby Flay signed off on, reads “We have come to an amicable divorce settlement. We look forward to putting this difficult time behind us and we ask that you respect our privacy as we move forward.”
Flay and March separated officially in March, with at least one mutual friend noting “There have been problems for a while, so this was inevitable.”
Since then, their back-and-forth has raised many an eyebrow, most notably since it’s come out that Bobby Flay has had many affairs. Among his alleged encounters are Elyse Tirrell, 28, Flay’s assistant for some time; January Jones, star of Mad Men; and fellow Food Network star Giada de Laurentiis.
Flay’s lawyers have long maintained that their client’s infidelity has been overstated, and was leaked to garner support for March, “Even more unfortunate [than the divorce],” Flay’s legal team said, “is that all of this is being done in order to renegotiate a prenuptial agreement that was agreed to over a decade ago and never amended during the marriage.”
It’s true–March wanted a do-over on the pair’s pre-nup, which would have granted her $5,000 per month. According to the latest pre-divorce report, what she actually wanted was half of Bobby Flay’s $20 million estate, since, in her words, Flay had told her many times that her refined palate was indispensible in the construction of his food and lifestyle empire.
The precise terms of the divorce, though, were not disclosed.
