Atlanta ‘Real Housewife’ Kandi Burruss signs new record deal with Asylum; B.L.O.G. to be released February 2010
Real singer-songwriter Kandi Burruss has inked a deal with Aslyum Records to release her solo album B.L.O.G. February 2010, according to BV Buzz.
During an episode of Season 2 of Real Housewives of Altanta, former Xscape member Kandi Burruss met with executives at Capital to make a deal for her first solo album in ten years, but the deal fell through in the past few months.
Kandi kept promoting her album despite the setback, and released an E.P. on itunes, which performed well. She’s now excited to get the rest of her music out there, including a duet with former Xscape band mate Tiny Cottle. Her Real Housewives experience inspired much of the album, including her relationship with her late ex-fiance A.J. Jewell. She named the album B.L.O.G. (B*tches Love Online Gossip) as an homage to her love/hate relationships with online banter. Kandi has expressed that she loves blogs because “they help sell albums,” but doesn’t necessarily like some of the rumors and drama they’ve stirred up about her. Since Kandi herself is poised, talented, and scandal-free, most of the criticisms from blogs have been about A.J., calling him a deadbeat for having six children by four baby’s mamas. Arugably A.J.’s worst critic was Burruss’ mom, who openly aired her distaste for him on Housewives episodes.
Kandi has since admitted that her mother was right about a lot of things, and she and A.J. had been broken up for months when he died unexpectedly after a tussle at a nightclub. The sudden death shocked and devastated Kandi, who had lost a close uncle just a few days before. Finishing up her album helped Kandi deal with the deaths, and resist sinking into a depression. Can’t wait to hear the songs on Kandi’s B.L.O.G.
Kandi told BV Buzz:
“I’m really excited about my new deal and releasing my CD to the masses. People got to hear some of my new music on the ‘Real Housewives’ show, but I’ve got so many more hits that I can’t wait to put out.”
