Real Housewives of Orange County fans were shocked by reports earlier today that the show’s matriarch Vicki Gunvalson filed for divorce from husband of 16 years, Donn Gunvalson.
Not long after the announcement was made public Vicki posted this message on her Facebook account:
Donn has been an important part of my life and he will continue to be. Anyone who has gone through a divorce understands that this is a personal matter and a difficult time in our lives. Therefore we ask that you please respect our privacy at this time. I would also like to thank all of you for the outpouring of love and support that we have received.
Also responding to the news was Vicki’s 24-year-old son from a previous marriage, Michael, who tells Radar Online:
“Everyone’s doing ok. I mean, my mom and Donn haven’t been spending much time together,” Michael said. “They’re just not really enjoying each others company anymore. So it doesn’t really bother me.
“I don’t really get into their relationship too much, but I don’t think they’ve been happy for a while.”

“I think it’s for the best and they don’t really enjoy spending time with each other anymore and my mom’s always gone and traveling and Donn deserves someone who’s going to be at home and she deserves someone that’s going to support what she does.”
Radar asked Michael whether or not the couple’s split would be featured in the next season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and Michael responded that he wasn’t really home all that often and doesn’t know.
