Justin Bieber arrested in Canada – read the full statement from police

Justin Bieber can add yet another entry on his amazingly lengthy rap sheet after he was arrested yet again Friday, this time in his home province of Ontario, Canada, where he was visiting with Selena Gomez.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police release (included below), The Biebs crashed an ATV he was driving into a minivan and then got into an altercation with the minivan driver. According to TMZ, the minivan was being driven by a paparazzo, which makes sense given that Justin was photographed Friday driving an ATV with Selena Gomez on the back.

Selena later posted a video clip on instagram that looks to feature her riding on the ATV:

Here’s the full press release from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police that reveals Justin has been charged with “dangerous driving” and “assault” and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court on September 29 after being released on a Promise to Appear:

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [PERTH COUNTY] MALE ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT & DANGEROUS DRIVING 2014-09-02

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Friday August 29, 2014 shortly before 3 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision between a minivan and an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Line 40 east of Road 106.

Investigation revealed that after colliding, the driver of the ATV and an occupant of the minivan engaged in a physical altercation. Justin BIEBER (20) of Calabasis California U.S.A., has been charged with “dangerous driving”, and “assault”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 29, 2014, to answer to these charges.

UPDATE – Twitter user @bxobieburr replied to our story by pointing out that Selena was also photographed driving the ATV with Justin riding on the back:

Although, according to the police report, it was Justin who was driving at the time of the incident in question.

UPDATE – Perth County OPP Const. Kees Wijnands spoke with reporters moments ago about Bieber’s arrest. “One of the occupants of the van and the operator of the ATV had words,” he said. “There was an altercation that took place and as a result of that we ended up arresting Justin Bieber for the offenses that were committed.”

It was also revealed that Justin Bieber was driving the ATV on a road where it was not allowed to be driven without a permit. Wijnands said that the minivan had two occupants, but he would not comment further on them or whether or not they were chasing Bieber just prior to the incident. He did add that Justin Bieber’s attitude when dealing with the police was “very positive.” (You can watch Wijnands talk to reporters at CTV — sadly the clip is not embeddable so I was unable to include it here.)

Also, Justin Bieber’s attorney Brian H. Greenspan issued the following statement regarding the arrest:

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’ peaceful retreat in Stratford this weekend was unfortunately disrupted by the unwelcome presence of paparazzi.

This has regrettably resulted in charges of dangerous driving and assault. Mr. Bieber and Ms. Gomez have fully cooperated in the police investigation. We are hopeful this matter will be quickly resolved.
