Demi Moore has ended the ongoing speculation in regards to her marriage to Ashton Kutcher by officially announcing that she will file for divorce.
Demi broke the news to the Associated Press today. Demi, 49, and Ashton, 33, were married in September of 2005. Their marriage has been under the media spotlight following accusations of infidelity on the part of Ashton Kutcher.
In particular there is the noted night of their anniversary when 22-year-old Sara Leal (pictured right) claimed that she and Ashton had sex in a hotel room hot tub in San Diego.
Here is Demi’s official statement which appears to implicate Ashton as being guilty of not standing by his vows:
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”
Ashton posted a response via his Twitter, on which he’s supposed to be on a self imposed ban after an uninformed comment about the Penn State scandal to communicate his regret:
“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.”
