Lindsay Lohan’s “Inferno” replacement Malin Akerman is a singer too

Lindsay and Malin singing

The director of the Linda Lovelace biopic Inferno, Matthew Wilder, has probably been as loyal to Lindsay Lohan as any other living soul while she has gone through her very public meltdown and subsequent trips to jail and rehab.  Wilder cast Lohan to portray the late infamous 70’s porn star Lovelace and stayed with Lindsay for much longer than anyone would have expected.  It seemed there was no end to his patience, that is until now as it has been announced that Lindsay is being replaced by 27 Dresses and Watchmen star Malin Akerman.

Wilder first told E News that the production would be moving on without Lohan:

“We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan.  We are currently in negotiations with another actress and working out the legalities of bringing her on board.”

And then followed up shortly thereafter with the news that Akerman would be her replacement:

“We are casting Malin Akerman for the role of Linda Lovelace.  We are currently in negotiations and working out the legalities of bringing her on board.”

The Petalstones with Malin Akerman

It’s apparent at first glance that Akerman is similar to Lohan in appearance but this isn’t the only thing she has in common with the troubled actress.  Akerman, 32, also has a side career as a singer.  She fronts a rock band from Los Angeles called, wait for it, The Petalstones. While the soft (petal) yet hard (stones) band hasn’t exploded on the charts they have manged to put out an official video for their song “Poison” featuring some of the best worst rockin’ out faces and tribal arm band tattoos you’ll care to see.

Here’s a live clip of The Petalstones from The Viper Room just in case you’re thinking, “Of course the Lindsay replacement can rock out with the assistance of Autotune and a totally hard core music video director but I bet she can’t pull it off live.”

I guess the live rock music scene in L.A. has went downhill since the glory days of Motley and G-n-R.  Just for comparison sake here’s the official video for LiLo’s song “Over”:

So which 70’s porn star portrayin’ actress has the better vocal chops?  It’s a tough call but I think it’s safe to say that you will not find and of Lindsay’s or The Petalstone’s songs on Inferno’s official soundtrack.
