The greatest talk show in all of late night is going full time y’all! Bravo made the official announcement today that Andy Cohen’s kitschy hip Watch What Happens: Live will be expanding to five nights a week starting January 8!

“Expanding Watch What Happens Live to five nights a week is the natural progression for this hit interactive show, and a testament to Andy’s enormous appeal,” said Frances Berwick, President of Bravo and Style Media. “It cements Bravo’s tentpole in late night with this one-of-a-kind live, relatable and truly unpredictable format.”

“In my wildest dreams when I started at Bravo seven years ago, I never imagined that I would end up fulfilling my lifelong dream,” said Andy Cohen. “It’s the perfect storm — I get to do the three things I’m most passionate about – producing, developing and hosting for a brand that I love.”

Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Lives moves to 5 nights a week

All I know is they need to start rethinking their drinking game “word of the night” because if they keep going with the obvious I’m going to be needing a liver transplant soon!

In addition to the full time hosting gig, Cohen’s job title with the network will also be shifting from Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development to Executive Vice President of Development and Talent, which (according to the press release) means “he will focus on creating new original content as Bravo builds on its five nights of originals, developing new formats and identifying new ‘Bravolebrities.’ He will continue to serve as Executive Producer on Top Chef and The Real Housewives franchise.” And of course, all of this is in addition to Andy recently announcing he has a book deal!

This is all wonderful news for a a truly delightful man and a truly delightful show. It may sound silly, but with how WWHL embraces the age of the internet and blogging, I believe it will change the landscape of late night television. Live broadcasts with live responses to tweets and Facebook posts, drankin’ on air, interactive polls… Mark my words – we’ll be seeing this style of show on the non-cable networks before the end of 2012!

A little bit of WWHL trivia for you: What is the title of the Watch What Happens: Live theme song? It is “Midnight Boogie” by Jenni Pulos – and here it is so you can have some background music while reading over the full official press release from Bravo Media! (I will also include some shirtless Andy candy for your eyes.)
