Amy Locane of Melrose Place fame charged in deadly crash

Amy Locane-Bovenizer, who became famous portraying Sandy Louise Harling in the hit show Melrose Place, has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and assault by auto for two incidents that occurred Sunday night in and around Princeton, New Jersey.

In a tragic scene that could have come from the script of Melrose Place, Locane-Bovenizer got involved in a hit-and-run around 9 PM and while attempting to flee the scene, rammed her 2007 Chevy Tahoe, a large SUV, into the passenger side of another vehicle killing the passenger Helene Seeman.  The driver of the other car, Fred Seeman, was flown to a nearby hospital where as of Monday he was listed in critical condition.

The initial accident happened in Princeton when Locane-Bovenizer rear-ended a vehicle and then fled, according to Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco, Jr.  The driver of the car (name not provided) that was rear-ended followed her and told police later that she was “swerving and knocking down several mailboxes.”  She made it nearly 17 miles to the town of Montgomery where the fatal crash involving Fred and Helene Seeman took place.

Officers that arrived at the deadly scene stated that Locane-Bovenizer had alcohol on her breath and that her eyes were bloodshot.  While in custody the actress confessed to having a few glasses of wine earlier that day.  She has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by automobile.  Her bail is set at $50,000 dollars and if convicted she faces 5-10 years in prison.

Locane-Bovenizer was currently starring in a play at the Off-Broadstreet Theatre in Hopewell, New Jersey.  She married Mark Bovenizer in 2008, the couple have two young children together.
