Actor James Farentino arrested for battery at his own home
Actor James Farentino is facing charges of misdemeanor battery that occurred at his Hollywood home Sunday evening. Farentino, 72, was released from jail Monday morning after posting a $20,000 bail.
Police were called to the house Sunday evening around 5 PM L.A. time where Farentino had been placed under citizen arrest. He was later booked at the LAPD’s Hollywood police station. Police indicate that Farentino, star of Dynasty and the major motion picture Final Countdown, was forcibly attempting to remove an unnamed man from his home.
This man, who suffered bruises from the altercation, is the same man that made the citizen arrest. What exactly happened Sunday night and why Farentino was arrested by a man he was removing from his home are unclear at the time. Farentino is 72 and has been acting since the early 1960’s.
For Farentino this is not his first run-in with the cops. Back in the early 90’s he was arrested on multiple counts of misdemeanor stalking of Frank Sinatra’s youngest daughter, Tina. Prosecutors said Farentino sent 16 faxes (so 90’s stalk) and approximately 30 phone calls threatening Tina’s life after a romantic riff. He was ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling.
Here is a classic trailer from the 1981 slasher-film that Farentino starred in called Dead and Buried:
We’ll update this post once further information is available in regards to the altercation.
