Shia LaBeouf is ‘deeply ashamed’ of new addiction low, asks for forgiveness on Twitter

A sheepish Shia LaBeouf took to Twitter to apologize for his public drunken disaster this weekend while filming The Peanut Butter Falcon. He’s already gotten back to work on the movie, and is now seeking forgiveness from the public for the behavioral lows of his addiction.

“I am deeply ashamed of my behavior and make no excuses for it,” he wrote in a statement that’s been confirmed by his publicist. “I don’t know if these statements are too frequent, or not shared often enough, but I am certain that my actions warrant a very sincere apology to the arresting officers, and I am grateful for their restraint. The severity of my behavior is not lost on me.

“My outright disrespect for authority is problematic to say the least, and completely destructive to say the worst,” the actor continued. “It is a new low. A low I hope is bottom. I have been struggling with addiction publicly for far too long, and I am actively taking steps toward securing my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes.”

His publicist also confirmed that LaBeouf is seeking help for his addiction, though it’s unknown exactly what kind of help he’s receiving. Recovering from addiction is almost always a long road, and there isn’t a quick fix to these kind of very serious problems.

LaBeouf has previously spent time in rehab, and has written off alcohol before. His recent relapse early Saturday morning escalated into an arrest and the inebriated actor’s out-of-control ranting and antics were captured by police cameras.

Addiction is a bitch. I hope he can find his way out.

I would guess this is mental illness + alcoholism. You can’t treat one without treating the other. Hopefully he’s getting treatment for both.

White privilige 101. If he were black, the cops would have shot him down.
