Sia’s latest music video featuring Dance Moms‘ Maddie Ziegler is drumming up a different kind of buzz than their popular collaboration on Chandelier.
“I am flabbergasted Melissa would go to the levels she is going to get her daughter famous,” Dance Moms‘ Cathy Nesbitt-Stein told TMZ, referencing Maddie’s mom. She added she “nearly threw up” while watching the “vile” video for Elastic Heart, which features 12-year-old Maddie and 28-year-old Shia LaBeouf “writhing” around in nude body suits — and Cathy isn’t alone: Many, including some survivors of childhood sexual abuse, are commenting on social media that the video makes them feel uncomfortable.
In an effort to cut off the speculation about her intentions with the video, Sia tweeted yesterday she “anticipated some ‘pedophelia!!!’ cries for this video.” She added, “All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play these two warring ‘sia’ self states.”
I apologize to those who feel triggered by #ElasticHeart My intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody.

Sia’s been vocal about her struggles with bipolar disorder and how she was affected by having a dad with dual personalities.
“It was an energy that came in the room,” she told Howard Stern in 2013 of whenever her dad was in “Stan” mode. In contrast, he was very kind and loving when he was in “Phil” mode. The video for Elastic Heart seems to be about coping with her father without allowing him to bring her down. Still, do you think they took it too far?
