Why did Lynne Bynes withdraw conservatorship request for daughter Amanda Bynes?
When sources reported today that Lynne Bynes withdrew her legal request for indefinite conservatorship of daughter Amanda Bynes, it seemed like a confusing move. After all, Amanda’s lawyer is arguing she is mentally unfit to stand trial for her outstanding DUI case. However, there’s a simple explanation — and it doesn’t have anything to do with Lynne withdrawing her support.
According to TMZ, Lynne and Rick Bynes opted to drop the conservatorship request because as long as Amanda remains under a Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) psychiatric hold, she’s not in the position to make any personal decisions. (Sad but true.)
In terms of Amanda’s money and assets, Lynne has what is called a LPS conservatorship. This allows her to make the medical and financial calls. Unfortunately, this will likely be the situation for the indefinite future: Sources say Amanda’s condition hasn’t improved.
