If you simply can’t get enough of watching spoiled women in Manhattan cry and complain about how difficult their privileged lives are, don’t fret: Downtown Girls is coming to MTV, where it premieres June 1. We were curious about Nikki Cohen, one of the women who will be followed on the series, and did a little digging to find out more about this downtown girl and “fashionista.”
MTV’s biography of Nikki lists her as the owner of Nikki Laura, a high-end boutique. Strangely, the store’s website doesn’t list its location, but a fan page on Facebook (with only 86 fans! eek!) puts the store on Prince Street, in New York’s Nolita neighborhood. The most recent comment on the page is a complaint that the telephone number for the store doesn’t work. It looks like the shop was at one time promising: in 2008, New York Post’s Page Six magazine profiled Nikki’s shop, which at the time claimed Chelsea Clinton and Minka Kelly as customers. Like the Kardashians, Nikki also calls herself a “celebrity stylist.” To her credit, it looks like she did graduate from Parsons School of Design, a prestigious fashion school.
She’s on Twitter as @nikkilaura, and her tweets are mostly about the upcoming premiere, and her fabulous life of spin classes and hanging out at the pool at her family’s home in Long Island.
Like any good young NYC socialite, Nikki’s got a few photos up at party blog Guest of a Guest, and a Famegame profile. Nikki’s also got a blog, but it only has a handful of updates, mostly about fashion.
Here’s a video interview with Nikki by NYPudding.com that takes place in her cute boutique:
The one thing we couldn’t figure out was Nikki’s personal life. Her MTV bio says she’s dated “every Jewish guy in Manhattan,” but unfortunately there was no evidence of that on the Internet. Thankfully she has sold her life to a reality show and will never have privacy again! Welcome to the fray, Nikki Laura Cohen!
