VIDEO Meet the man who dresses up as a life-sized, plastic doll

Robert Life-Sized Doll Sherry - My Strange Addiction

“I just can’t believe that’s a 70-year-old man in the mirror,” Robert, the man shown above, says in the upcoming season premiere of TLC’s My Strange Addiction.

Robert is part of a purportedly “growing subculture of men who wear elaborate latex or silicone masks or bodysuits.” His getup consists of a body suit (complete with breasts), a mask, a blonde wig and a number of possible outfits. After the lengthy transformation process into “Sherry,” Robert stands in awe of himself while looking in the mirror.

“That’s why I do this,” he said while admiring himself. “If I saw a 70-year-old man in the mirror, I’d quit this tomorrow.”

When the interviewer asked what he does see when he looks in the mirror, Robert said “a very exciting female… and she’s all mine.”

Robert/Sherry’s episode of My Strange Addiction also features some other female “maskers.” It premieres on Wed., Jan 7 at 10/9c. Later episodes in the season feature a woman who drinks air freshener, a woman “happily married” to a carnival ride, a woman who eats bricks and a man who juggles several elderly girlfriends.
