VIDEO Dad learns missing son is found alive live on Nancy Grace
Last night Charles Bothuell appeared on a live taping of Nancy Grace to appeal for help in finding his missing 12-year-old son. Young Charlie Bothuell disappeared from his home in Detroit, Michigan on Father’s Day.
In the following amazing clip, Nancy Grace informs the dad that she has learned that his son has been found alive in the basement of the family home. Mr. Bothuell is visibly stunned by the news, needing a few moments simply to gather his breath.
Without hesitation, Grace immediately begins to question the father. She asks, “How could your son be alive in your basement?” And then, “Sir, did you check your basement?”
Mr. Bothuell does his best to compose himself and tell Grace that his family, the police and the FBI had searched the basement. Grace was unmoved as she stated, “I don’t know why you guys would have reported him missing. All our viewers have been on the lookout for him.”
Detroit Police Chief James Craig has since confirmed that the boy was found behind a makeshift barricade of boxes in the basement. “I’ve never seen anything quite like this,” Craig informed reporters. “But the outcome – I couldn’t be happier.” Adding, “There’s no way he could have erected this makeshift area of concealment.”
Craig also stated that investigators had previously searched the home 4 times, including once with a cadaver dog.
After the Grace appearance Bothuell reaffirmed that he was shocked by the news and was angered by implications that he or his family might have been involved. “For anybody to imply that I somehow knew my son was in the basement is absurd and wrong. I love my son. I’m glad that he’s home.”
