bounce house blows into road with child inside, hit by car

A nine-year-old boy in California had a terrifying Wizard of Oz experience on Saturday as the bounce house he was playing in was picked up by a strong wind and blown onto a nearby highway where it was struck by a vehicle! The child was thrown from the bounce house after impact, but thankfully only suffered minor injuries.

Here is a video from the scene just after the accident in which you can see the deflated bounce house as well as the young boy being placed on a gurney before being put in an ambulance and taken to a local hospital:

The incident occurred in San Bernardino County in Southern California at roughly 3:12 PM. The SBSD issued a press release with the harrowing details:

On Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 3:12 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Highway 395 and Bartlett Avenue in the city of Adelanto regarding a bounce house blowing away from a residence near the 18200 block of Delicious Avenue. Inside the bounce house was a 9-year-old child.

The child fell out of the bounce house after it had rolled onto Highway 395 and struck a vehicle that was traveling south on highway 395. The child was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment; he was suffering from minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle had no injuries and was shook up from the ordeal.

So glad this story had a happy ending! On another positive note, I bet that kid is going to be the coolest kid in school when he gets back!
