The Rock is Hollywood’s top money-maker of 2013

The Rock - Dwayne Johnson - Forbes Top Money-Maker 2013

With his movies making a combined $1.3 billion, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was Hollywood’s top money-maker of 2013.

On the Forbes list, The Rock was closely trailed by Iron Man‘s Robert Downey Jr., who was the top money-maker for 2012. Steve Carell was in the third slot with just less than one billion. With $862 billion, Sandra Bullock was the top female money-maker. The late Paul Walker was the sixth biggest money-maker.

The list was calculated by tallying how much money the actors’ movies brought in at worldwide box offices. With $789 million for Fast & Furious 6 alone, The Rock had a solid foundation. He ultimately earned the top spot with the help of his modestly successful films: Pain & Gain, Empire State, G.I. Joe and Snitch. In comparison, Iron Man 3 was Robert Downey Jr.’s only film for the year.

Looking ahead to next year, The Rock’s staged for a title repeat. Not only does he have Fast & Furious 7 (which will likely experience increased sales in the wake of Paul Walker’s death), but he also has Hercules.
