The Playboy Mansion is up for sale: Can you guess the asking price?

The Biltmore. Neverland Ranch. The Playboy Mansion. These are just a few of the most famous estates in the country. And, like them, the Playboy Mansion is now up for sale.

The iconic home of Playboy, Hugh Hefner, and the infamous Grotto will soon be on the market. If you’re thinking about buying the property, be warned: it comes with a Hef-ty asking price:

$200 million.

So what does 200 mil get you?

– 6 acres in Holmby Hills
– 22 rooms
– Wine cellar
– Movie theater
– Several tennis courts
– And a whole lot of history

There’s also an important stipulation that any prospective buyer should know: Hef will be allowed to stay in the home after it has been purchased.

So, let me get this straight… Hugh Hefner is selling his home for $200 million dollars, but won’t move out after closing?

The 87-year-old is clearly attached to his home.

He purchased the property in 1971 for $1 million and plans to remain there…until his death.

Despite that tiny little detail, Playboy CEO Scott Flanders is confident in the decision to put the mansion up for sale:

This is the right time to seek a buyer for this incredible property who understands the role the Mansion has played for our brand and enables us to continue to reinvest in the transformation of our business. The Playboy Mansion has been a creative center for Hef as his residence and workplace for the past 40 years, as it will continue to be if the property is sold.

Many speculate the $200 million asking price is way too high for the condition of the property. People who’ve visited the mansion report the home is in poor condition, with old furnishings, and outdated decor.

Some real estate experts say the home will sell for closer to $80 or $90 million. Even though the acreage of the property is desirable and its history is legendary, the interior is described as a complete gut job.

An interesting fact about the sale of The Mansion is the listing agents. According to TMZ, the listing will be split between two agencies: The Agency and Hilton & Hyland.

In case you don’t know, The Agency is owned by Mauricio Umansky, who is married to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards. Hilton & Hyland is Rick Hilton’s agency. Rick is married to Kathy…who is Kyle’s sister.

In other words, Mauricio and Rick are brothers-in-law. #KeepinItInTheFamily

Prospective buyers who are interested in touring the home will have full access to view the property with the exception of one room: Hef’s bedroom.
