Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants sequel in development
Nearly 10 years after Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants premiered and six years after Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Alloy Entertainment is officially developing the third and final film, Sisterhood Everlasting.
“The Sisterhood series is one of Alloy’s most cherished properties and we are looking forward to continuing its legacy with Sisterhood Everlasting,” said Alloy Entertainment President Les Morgenstein in a release, Entertainment Weekly reports. “The original film brought together an incredible group of talent who we hope to unite for fans once again.”
Like the first two movies, the new film is based on Ann Brashares’ popular young adult novels. Sisterhood Everlasting was the fifth and final book in the series. It reunites the four friends — Tibby, Lena, Carmen and Bridget — 10 years later for a trip that was intended to bring them close again.
Representatives for Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Blake Lively didn’t respond to EW‘s request for comment. However, when speaking with the magazine for a reunion photo shoot last fall, America noted the timing would be right…
“The fifth book picks up 10 years after the fourth book, so the characters are all basically the ages that we are now. I know that the four of us would love [to make another film], and it would be wonderful.”
Amber added, “I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s something in the air about that idea. We’ll have to see.”
Now, there’s just one question: Will the pants still fit?
