Sara Evans’ ex accuses singer of exposing children to drugs

Craig Schelske and country singer Sarah Evans in court

The divorce and subsequent custody battle between country singer Sara Evans and her ex-husband Craig Schelske has been one of the most publicly vicious and heated in recent memory.  Ironically, their split has all the makings of a country classic.

Back in 2006 Evans was competing on Dancing With the Stars but left for what she labeled personal reasons.  It was later revealed that she was divorcing her husband of 13 years.  She was finally granted a divorce on September 28th, 2010 after vicious accusations of infidelity on the part of Evans was made by her ex.  In court papers he claimed that Evans had affairs with a number of high profile people including music notables Richard Marx, Kenny Chesney, her DWTS partner Tony Dovolani and four or five members of the rock band 3 Doors Down.

Evans countered by having Schelske’s internet activity monitored to back up her claim that he was a lover of internet pornography.  She also claimed that Schelske had his own number of affairs including a nanny by the name of Alison Clinton Lee who sued Evans for 3 million for smearing her name.  That case was settled out of court for $500,000.  Well you get the point…

Back in February Evans obtained a restraining order against Schelske that forbids him from disparaging her anymore to the press or to make any further allegations in regards to what happened to cause their split.  The couple had three children together that Evans has custody of.  As you would imagine, Schelske has been seeking custody of the children and his latest claims continue the sad, embittered trend of their split.

TMZ has obtained court documents, which obviously aren’t covered under the restraining order, that were filed by Schelske claiming, in relationship to Evans’ life on tour, that he:

“…has first-hand knowledge that the children are exposed to inappropriate conduct, spend little time with [Sara], and are placed in a party atmosphere with excessive drinking and drug use.”

Schelske adds, in the past Sara had even “encouraged and condoned underage drinking.”  He is seeking 50/50 custody to, “protect the children from the likelihood of substantial harm” during Sara’s tour which is set to begin in less than a month.  This means that her ex’s move could prevent her from making her scheduled performances.
