Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen split

Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen attend the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival - Day 2 - Sleeping Beauty Premiere in Cannes, France.

Rachel McAdams and boyfriend Michael Sheen have parted ways, sources confirm to Us Weekly. The two actors first met on the obviously romantic set of Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris in July of 2010 and went public with their romance in October of that same year. But nearly two-and-a-half years later, they have decided to call it quits.

“Michael and I didn’t get together while we were filming Midnight in Paris, which I feel strongly about not doing when I’m working. We became quite good friends, which I think is a great way to start,” Rachel told Stella Magazine of her relationship with Michael last year. “I felt very blessed to have made a Woody Allen film in Paris together.”

While Rachel and Michael’s schedules were sometimes hectic, the two remained committed to each other and did what they could to ensure their relationship had a fair shot. “Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart — we rack up a lot of air miles — but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not,” she told the magazine.

Rachel previously dated (and was also engaged to) Ryan Gosling, her co-star in The Notebook, from 2005-2007 and was linked to Josh Lucas briefly in 2009. Michael dated actress Kate Beckinsale for eight years from 1995-2003. The couple have a 14-year-old daughter together, Lily.

And in case you’re wondering, Michael Sheen is NOT related to Charlie Sheen.
