Australian news anchor Karl Stefanovic isn’t just reporting the news, he’s making it. Stefanovic recently revealed he’s been wearing the exact same suit every single day for a year and no one commented or even seemed to notice!
Karl, who co-hosts the Australian version of the Today show, went on a clothing strike in order to prove a point about sexism towards women. Stefanovic claims there is a strong prejudice against women based on their clothing choices that doesn’t exist for men.
In order to prove his hypothesis, the 40-year-old veteran news anchor wore the same navy suit every day only changing his tie. He had this to say of his clothing experiment:
Women are judged much more harshly and keenly for what they do, what they say and what they wear. I’m judged on my interviews, my appalling sense of humour – on how I do my job, basically. Whereas women are quite often judged on what they’re wearing or how their hair is … that’s [what I wanted to test].
Back in 2012, Forbes did an article featuring famous people who wear the same outfit everyday including notable names such as Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein. Interestingly, only 3 of the 18 people in the story are women.
