Conan O'Brien Hollywood Reporter ad Sharktopus vs Pteracuda for your consideration

It’s getting that time of year where the film industry begins to turn its attention to Oscar season as Hollywood movers and shakers begin jockeying for attention with marketing aimed at Academy members. The latest “For your consideration” advertisement (above) comes from talk show host Conan O’Brien, who makes his home theatrical acting debut in the comedically-acclaimed summer blockbuster sequel Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda, set to premiere on Syfy on August 2.

In addition to soliciting votes from the Academy voters, Conan makes good use of his advertising dollars and also makes a plea to EMMY and BAFTA voters as well. Dude is smart!

But Conan O’Brien isn’t the only industry supporter that Conan O’Brien has, his good pal (ie guest on his show sometimes) Martin Scorsese took out a visually stunning full-page ad (below) of his own in the current issue of The Hollywood reporter offering up accolades and congratulations to Coco along with the heartfelt message, “Your work in Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda is, in a word, sublime.”

But the printed page is not the only advertising medium singing the praises of Captain Co-Co! Check out these billboards strategically located in Hollywood and New York City with a slightly different variant of the “for your consideration” ad above:

Needless to say, Conan is super excited about the drastically different trajectory his career is about to take, and he shared his excitement with his audience on Conan:

Be sure to get your seat on the Oscar Cocomotive early by watching the Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda premiere Saturday, August 2 at 9/8c on Syfy! Or, you can get on board late with your DVR or by tuning in for the encore airing August 30.
