PHOTOS Katharina Haecker in “The Genteel Elegance of Figure Skating Fail”

Is there anything more graceful than the fluid artistry of a talented figure skater? It is human beauty and dignity floating before our eyes in a seemingly effortless display of poetry in motion, and I thought I might take a brief moment to step away from the brutal and ugly side of humanity usually talked about at length on this blog and pay tribute to the quiet majesty that is the fine art of figure skating.

Here is the lovely Katharina Haecker performing her short program at the 2010 German Figure Skating Championships in Mannheim December 18, 2009. Let us all take a moment to admire aesthetic perfection.

Awwwwwww….

To temper the unappealing amount of schadenfreude in this post let me confess two things:

1. I can’t even try to stand on ice without busting my keister.

2. Katharina looks pretty darn sexy before, during and after falling on her ice.

OK, I did a figure skating post. Doesn’t that qualify me for some sort of NEA blogging grant?
