PHOTOS Elton John joins Instagram just in time to get married

 

Elton John has finally tied the knot–and he’s given us the photographs to prove it. Sir Elton married longtime partner David Furnish on Sunday, at the same time that he joined Instagram. The couple shared photos throughout the day. The one above came at the start of the ceremony, with the Registrar welcoming the assembled guests. Elton and David were married at their home in Old Windsor, near London-town.

 

 

 

“Zachary grabs David’s iPhone and takes a photo of his brother while we exchange our vows,” wrote Elton, who signed each of the posts with the hashtag #ShareTheLove. Zachary was born in December 2010; Elijah, of the same surrogate, was born in January of 2013.

Speaking of which…

 

 

…the night before the ceremony, John shared this snapshot of the little boys’ little shoes. “Our little ring bearers are fast asleep,” he said, “and their shoes are polished and ready for tomorrow’s celebration.”

 

 

 

The décor was as elegant as you might expect from an Eltonic December wedding. John noted that the couple “had red roses at our Civil Partnership 9 years ago and they brought us so much luck.” As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reminds us, the couple’s wedding came nine years to the day after Elton and David entered into a civil partnership.

 

 

As for the wedding lunch menu? It was perhaps the most English thing about the entire event. Wild mushroom soup with truffle cream; beef short rib and caramelized onion pie with roasted potatoes and parsnips in horseradish butter; and warm chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream–in addition to wedding cake, of course. Reports that the super-British menu was subtitled “Straight Outta Downton” could not be verified.
