PHOTO Texas man in banana suit carrying an AK-47 detained
This story is bananas… B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
Over the weekend some motorists in Beaumont, Texas became concerned, understandably, when they noticed a man in a banana suit on the side of the road strapped with an AK-47 and an attached 50-round magazine.
On Saturday morning after 911 was called, area police arrived on the scene and briefly detained the armed 18-year-old before he could banana split. It turns out that he was hired by Mr. Derek Poe, proprietor of Golden Triangle Tactical, as part of a promotion to celebrate the grand opening of his store that had relocated from an area mall.
Poe said his hired fruit-gun had the weapon pointing downwards and was holding a sign with an arrow pointing towards his business.
Poe made headlines in December when police stopped him after he was spotted in the Parkdale Mall carrying an assault rifle strapped to his back. His gun was seized and he was later charged for disorderly conduct as the police argued that witnesses stated they were scared for their lives.
Poe argued that he was exercising his second amendment right to open carry and moved his store to the new location.
As for banana boy? A police spokesperson said that he was cited for violating a city ordinance that prohibits soliciting in and alongside roadways. #KeepinItPeel
