Here is the first image of Meryl Streep as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher from the film Iron Lady, currently being filmed on location in the UK. The film will focus on Thatcher’s actions in the days leading up to the Falklands War in 1982 and will also star Jim Broadbent as Denis Thatcher with a fantastic supporting cast that includes Olivia Colman, Nicholas Farrell, Susan Brown, Roger Allam, Anthony Head, Julian Wadham, Pip Torrens, Nick Dunning, Richard E Grant, David Westhead, Angus Wright and John Sessions.
“The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge. I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses – I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!” Meryl Streep said.
Thanks to Meryl I can now sort of imagine what it would look like if Julia Child had been Prime Minister of Great Britain.
