PHOTO ‘Deeritos’ situation reminds us all not to litter

Deeritos

The above PSA about the dangers of littering comes to us courtesy of a Florida Key deer with a case of the munchies.

Late Saturday evening, Deputy Joshua Gordon with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was out on patrol when he came across the above Key deer who apparently got a little too buck wild with a bag of Doritos.

Instead of just fawning over how cute it was, Gordon did his job as he removed the bag, without any complaints from said deer. A spokesperson for the department used this as a reminder to visitors to properly dispose of the trash.

Key deer are a subspecies of the Virginia white-tailed deer and are endangered. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services indicates the deer have been threatened by development, habitat loss and hurricanes.

We’re glad to hear this dear little deer is now doing fine and I totally get how good the crumbled up salty remains at the bottom of the bag can be.
