Philly police release footage of beaten, robbed blind man as bystanders just watch

Blind-man-beaten-in-Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Police Department released surveillance footage of a 33-year-old blind man being beaten and robbed in hopes of catching the criminal who perpetrated this crime.

In the footage you can see the suspect on the streets of Philadelphia push the blind man to the ground and then forcefully kick and stomp him as he lay helpless. During the footage there are three bystanders, most notably a pedestrian crossing the road, who do nothing to try and stop what was happening.

There were no calls to 911 made until after the attack and even then, the person did not indicate that an assault had taken place.

As seen in the released clip, police indicate that the incident occurred on Oct. 2. Philly.com is reporting that the man was also robbed, and as the police information stated, he suffered injuries to his face and hands. Philadelphia Police Chief Charles Ramsey told MyFOXPhilly that a lack of response by citizens is becoming “more and more common,” adding that folks are more apt to pull out their cell phones and take videos than provide assistance.

“People now just sit around. It’s a shame,” he said.
