MUG SHOTS Cheer Perfection’s Ronald Dunlap arrested one day after cast mate

Cheer Perfection - Ronald Dunlap

When Cheer Perfection‘s Andrea Clevenger was arrested on Tuesday for felony rape of a 13-year-old boy, representatives for the gym featured on the show distanced themselves from Andrea’s criminal actions: “Cheer Time Revolution officially has no comment on the private life of any person other than staff members as we do not control individuals lives.”

Unfortunately, the gym spokesperson is likely eating his words — because coach Ronald Dunlap was just busted for pot possession!

According to Arkansas Online, police approached a parked Honda Civic at 12:29 a.m. Ronald and a companion, 21-year-old Ryan Dahl (shown below), tried to get out of the car. The officer instructed them to stay in the vehicle. The officer then detected a strong marijuana smell and asked whether there was any pot in the car. Ronald handed the officer “two partially smoked roaches.” With reason to search, the officer discovered a glass pipe and several small packages containing a “green substance.”

Both men were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Although the arrest circumstances are pretty clear, matters get complicated when figuring out the men’s roles with the gym. Viewers know “R.D.” was regularly featured on TLC’s Cheer Perfection as a Cheer Time Revolution coach and husband to co-owner Alisha Dunlap. In a September 2013 interview with Cheer Professional, Alisha referred to Ronald as a co-owner.

“Without the two of us, it wouldn’t work. We love to disagree, but we always have to meet in the middle,” she said at the time. “We are night and day: I’m very firm, and my coaching style is very different than his. I want to see the overall routine hit and overall athlete to excel. I want their skills to improve and advance quickly, whereas my husband wants to see perfection before progression.”

Ryan Dahl was never featured on the show, but TMZ referred to him as a current coach at Cheer Time Revolution.

In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, Cheer Time Revolution spokesperson Kevin Knight said those claims are false: “Ronald Dunlap is not an owner of the gym. Ronald Dunlap is an employee of the gym. Mr. Dunlap is currently on a suspension pending the outcome of the misdemeanor charges. Upon the outcome Mr. Dunlap’s continued employment will be determined. The other mentioned party [Dahl] is not nor has been an employee of the gym. Cheer Time Revolution has a zero tolerance policy and our staff is fully investigated as well as randomly checked for illegal usage. The athletes safety is always first and foremost.”

Either way, it seems safe to say that things aren’t looking so good for the future of Cheer Perfection or Cheer Time Revolution.
