Michael Clarke Duncan dies

Michael Clarke Duncan in "The Green Mile"

Michael Clarke Duncan passed away yesterday in a Los Angeles hospital. The actor was just 54. A month and a half ago, Michael had suffered a myocardial infarction which led to him going into cardiac arrest but doctors expected a full recovery. At the time of the incident, his fiance Omarosa Manigault had been able to resuscitate him. Unfortunately, this time around there was nothing anyone could do.

Sources tell TMZ that the death of The Green Mile actor was very sudden and unexpected. Omarosa had been with him following his admittance into the hospital but left for a short time and when she returned, he had passsed. Omarosa’s mother was the only one with him at the time of death.

Michael’s rep tells TMZ that he never fully recovered from the myocardial infarction he suffered in July.

In a statement, the rep said, “[Omarosa] Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”

Omarosa and Michael had met in the produce section of a Whole Foods over two years ago and had been inseparable ever since. Omarosa tells Radar Online, “I am devastated. He was the love of my life.”

The actor’s longtime manager, Dan Spilo, tells The Hollywood Reporter, “He was the only actor I ever knew that more often than not when fans came up to him, of any age or race or gender, they wouldn’t ask for an autograph, they’d want a hug. He had a heart as big as the world.” He also added, “God bless his fiancée, Omarosa, who fought for and with him everyday and never left his side.”

Michael had been nominated for an Academy Award for his role on The Green Mile. He had also appeared in such films as Armageddon, Green Lantern, and Talladega Nights. Prior to his acting career, Michael had served as bodyguard to LL Cool J, Will Smith, Notorious B.I.G. and several others.
