Mariah Carey had only recently left the hospital after injuring herself last Sunday while shooting a music video, but she was determined to make the show go on. The singer showed off three separate designer arm slings to match her gowns when she performed Saturday as a guest of the New York Philharmonic at the Major League Baseball All-Star Charity Concert, a charity benefit for relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy.
Mariah began her performance by saying what an honor it was for her to perform with the Philharmonic, and then pointed to her sparkling sling saying “I’m not in the best of health here. It was us getting creative.” She later draped the sling in a furry Gucci stole.
When she came back out for the second part of her performance, she was all in black, including a Black Swan touch to her sling adornment. “I’m sorry if I was a little emotional before,” she said. “I’m in a tiny bit of pain.” Her spokesperson said Mariah was actually “actually in a lot of pain,” suffering from “bruised ribs, dislocated shoulder, temporary nerve damage in her arm.”
