Madonna on Lady Gaga and Born This Way / Express Yourself controversy

Madonna has finally addressed the controversially eery similarities between her song “Express Yourself” and Lady Gaga’s recent smash hit “Born This Way” while talking with Newsweek senior reporter Jacob Bernstein for an article to appear in their January 30th issue.

I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song (“Express Yourself”). I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was… interesting.

Oh no she di-unt! Now that’s expressing yourself!

The sure-to-be headline-grabbing quote came in two parts via the Newsweek Twitter feed:

So far there has been no response from Lady Gaga.
